VolumeMonit is 3D Format’s proprietary brand developed based on its own experience built with customers of the mining and construction industries for more than 10 years, as well as on a research and development project successfully carried out in consortium with AGH University of Science and Technology. Its roots can be traced back to 2016, when we deployed drone surveying with low-altitude photogrammetry to our portfolio. The idea quickly found a wide range of enthusiasts among industrial plant managers – mainly because of the non-invasiveness and speed of the measurements. However, it had several drawbacks, the biggest of which turned out to be the scalability of the service.

For each measurement, in addition to the drone, our employee was needed on site to carry on the survey. Meanwhile, we heard various voices stressing the need to survey more frequently, such as once every few days. Some customers pointed out the need to measure material at multiple sites simultaneously, which was not possible with this model – or at least would have cost too much. Naturally, the more measurements, the more workers, cars, drones and time required to conduct them. So we started thinking seriously about improving our technology…
